Why can I only shoot brass on the range and not aluminum or steel casings?

Brass-cased ammunition is the only type allowed at our indoor range due to safety, environmental, and operational concerns.

Our ventilation and lead containment systems are designed to safely manage the hazardous materials associated with shooting, including the lead dust found on spent casings. To prevent contamination, shooters are not allowed beyond the firing line to collect brass. Instead, Range Safety Officers manage the collection process, and all brass is recycled through a regulated reclamation system.

Introducing steel, aluminum, or steel-core casings would contaminate this process. Mixed casings can't be recycled and can't be discarded as normal waste due to the presence of lead, making proper disposal costly and legally complex. Sorting casings manually is not only labor-intensive but also exposes our staff to unnecessary health risks.

Additionally, non-brass and specialty rounds (like steel-core or tracer ammunition) can severely damage our equipment and facilities, increasing maintenance costs and potentially compromising shooter safety.

By limiting ammunition to brass casings only, we’re protecting your health, preserving our range, and keeping operational costs manageable. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Can I bring my personal firearm into the store?

Yes, you may. However, for everyone’s safety, all firearms brought into Frontier Justice must be unloaded and secured in a proper case or holster before entering the building.

Please do not open your firearm case or handle your firearm until you are inside the range and at your assigned shooting bay.

As part of our security protocol, we also ask that all guests remove or lower full-face coverings or hoods before entering the store. If you have a specific need or concern regarding this policy, a manager will be happy to assist you.

What do I need to bring with me to shoot on the range?

Each guest must bring a valid photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, military ID) to use the range.

You'll also need ANSI-certified eye and ear protection, at least one target, and closed-toed shoes.

If you don’t have any of these items, no problem! Eye and ear protection, as well as targets, are available to rent or purchase at the Range Check-In desk. We also offer disposable booties if you arrive wearing open-toed shoes.

Do I need a membership to shoot on the range?

No, you do not. Non-members may use our range for a fee of $24.99 for 1 shooter and $39.99 for 2 shooters (per lane). This is for an unlimited time unless there is a wait for lanes. If a waitlist builds, you may be asked to release the lane after one hour, but may return to another lane if one becomes available that same day.

Can I use my own ammo on the range?

Yes, you may use your own ammunition on the range as long as it meets our range requirements. All ammo must be brass-cased; aluminum-cased, steel-cased, steel core, steel shot, tracer, and armor-piercing rounds are not permitted. Muzzle-loaders and black powder firearms are also prohibited.

For shotguns, only slugs are allowed. Birdshot and buckshot are not permitted. If you are renting a firearm from Frontier Justice, you are required to use ammunition purchased from our store to ensure safety and proper function.

Do I need prior shooting experience to shoot on the range?

No prior experience is required to shoot on the range. Our on-duty Range Safety Officers are available to assist first-time shooters and ensure a safe environment for everyone.

However, if you're looking for more in-depth instruction or hands-on guidance, we recommend signing up for a class, as RSOs have limited time to provide individual assistance during regular range operations.

Can I collect my brass?

You are welcome to collect your own brass, as long as it remains behind the firing line. For safety and environmental reasons, brass that has gone beyond the firing line may not be retrieved.

What calibers can I shoot on the range?

You may shoot any caliber up to and including .50 caliber on the range. All ammunition must still meet our range requirements regarding casing and projectile type.

Are there calibers that aren’t allowed on the range?

Ammunition with a muzzle velocity exceeding 4,000 feet per second is not permitted. Additionally, .22-250 caliber rounds are prohibited for safety reasons.

How many people are allowed on a lane?

Each lane accommodates a maximum of two people at a time to ensure safety and comfort.

Can I use my prescription glasses as my eye protection?

Yes, you may use your prescription glasses as eye protection, provided they meet ANSI-certified safety ratings and feature clear or yellow lenses. Tinted glasses are not allowed for safety reasons.

May I buy a firearm as a gift for my spouse?

Yes, you can purchase a firearm as a gift, but it’s important to understand the legal requirements involved. Do NOT engage in "straw purchases," which is purchasing  a firearm on behalf of another person who may be prohibited from owning one or to bypass background checks.

The person who will possess the firearm must be the one completing the purchase. As the buyer, you are responsible for the firearm until it is lawfully transferred to the recipient.

If you have any questions about the process or legal responsibilities, please ask one of our associates for guidance.

At Frontier Justice, the safety of our guests and compliance with all applicable laws are our highest priorities. For this reason, we require a valid government-issued photo ID from every individual who wishes to use our gun range.

Requesting identification serves several important purposes:

  • Legal Compliance – ID verification ensures that we are operating in accordance with firearms regulations and range management best practices.
  • Liability and Insurance – Maintaining accurate records protects both our guests and our business, and is required for liability and insurance purposes.
  • Safety and Accountability – Verifying identity helps us foster a secure, responsible, and respectful environment for all participants.
  • Your identification is used solely for these purposes and is handled in accordance with our privacy and security policies. By following this process, we are able to uphold the highest standards of safety, responsibility, and compliance for every guest at Frontier Justice.
